Men's Tennis Cruises Past USJ

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Taking two of three doubles matches and five of six singles matches, the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team (5-6) defeated the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.), 7-2, on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Juniors Pranav Marwaha (Nashua, N.H.) and Niko Rosich (Chicago, Ill.) got things going for Wentworth with an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles. After USJ tied the match with an 8-5 win at No. 1, senior Daniel Gallegos (Monterrey, Mexico) and sophomore Rene Rodriguez (Doral, Fla.) put the Leopards back on top with an 8-5 win at No. 2.
  • Rosich gave the Black & Gold a 3-1 lead when he was a 6-3, 6-4 winner at No. 6 singles before Gallegos put Wentworth on the brink of clinching with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1. Sophomore Eric Doraci (Natick, Mass.) clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph at No. 5.
  • Freshman Manas Ayra (Hessen, Germany) was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at No. 3, while Marwaha picked up a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 4.
