Men's Tennis Sweeps Curry

MILTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team got back on the winning track Wednesday afternoon with a 9-0 win over Curry in Commonwealth Coast Conference play.

With the win the Leopards improve to 88 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wentworth took the first two doubles flights by identical 8-0 scores. At No. 1, senior Daniel Gallegos (Monterrey, Mexico) teamed with junior Niko Rosich (Chicago, Ill.), while at No. 2, sophomore Damien Josephson (Waterbury, Conn.) teamed with classmate Rene Rodriguez (Doral, Fla.). The Leopards completed the sweep as sophomore Jasper Pearman Hamilton, Bermuda) and freshman Grace Ferguson (Concord, N.H.) were 8-6 winners at No. 3.
  • Rosich put the Black & Gold on top by a 4-0 score with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 before Rodriguez clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2.
  • Gallegos picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1, sophomore Thomas Kot (Farmington, Conn.) was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 4, sophomore Will Maynard-Pimental (Rockland, Mass.) won at No. 6, 6-1, 6-2, and sophomore Justin Whalen (Dover, N.H.) rounded out the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6.
