Track and Field Kicks Off New Year with Meet at Art Farnham Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Wentworth Institute of Technology track and field team had their first meet of 2022, competing in the Art Farnham Invitational Saturday afternoon.

 

Five members compete in the men's 60 meter dash for Wentworth. Freshman Scott Stehlik (Northport, N.Y.) had the best finish for the Leopards, finishing seventh overall with a time of 7.39 seconds. Right behind him was freshman Jacob Noonan, who finished in 7.44 and picked up eighth place. Classmate Jacob Stewart (Worcester, Mass.) finished 10th overall in 7.73 seconds, and finishing in 7.81 and 11th place was junior Dre Colas (Cambridge, Mass.). Rounding out the event for the Leopards was sophomore Jay Joseph (Springfield, Mass.) who finished in 13th place in 8.17 seconds.

 

The Leopards had seven runners in the men's 200 meter dash, with Noonan earning the best finish for Wentworth, picking up fourth place in 24.86 seconds. Almost directly behind him, with a time of 24.87 seconds and fifth place, was junior Matt Murphy (Foxborough, Mass.). Coming in sixth was freshman Nate Muller (Concord, N.H.) with a time of 25.12, while classmate Ryan Abbotoni (Windham, Maine) crossed the finish line in 25.21 seconds and seventh place. Junior Jordin Prampin (Worcester, Mass.) had an eighth place finish and a time of 25.39. In 10th place was Stehlik, who finished in 25.44, and Stewart came in 11th for Wentworth, crossing in 25.64.

 

Murphy also competed in the men's 400 meter event, finishing sixth with a time of 55.37, while sophomore Matthew Wong (Quincy, Mass.) finished in 1:03.81, coming in seventh place.

 

Sophomore Jack Chausse (Newport, R.I.) competed in the 1000 meter run, coming in third place and finishing in 2:35.87. Senior Rob Pineault (Andover, Mass.) won the men's one mile run event with a 5:03.90 finish time.

 

In the men's 3k, freshman Christian Vallerand (Woburn, Mass.) finished in fourth place, picking up a 10:19.37 finish. In fourth place and a time of 10:32.30 was sophomore William Carpenter (Salisbury, Vt.). Freshman Robbie McCue (East Weymouth, Mass.) came in seventh, crossing the finish line in 11:30.21.

 

The men's team finished third in the 4x400 relay, as the team of Abbotoni, Chausse, Prampin, and Murphy finished in 3:49.25. Junior Dylan Kindberg (Rehoboth, Mass.) competed in the men's high jump event, coming in third as well with a 1.75 meter jump. In the pole vault event, Muller picked up a seventh place finish with a 3.50 meter vault.

 

Three Leopards competed in the long jump, as sophomore Elijah Sleasman (Albany, N.Y.) earned fourth place with a jump of 5.88 meters. In seventh place was junior Christian Army (Pembroke, N.H.), who jumped 5.61 meters, and in eighth place with a jump of 5.16 meters was Prampin.

 

Wentworth picked up first and second place in the men's triple jump, as had an 11.72 meter jump in the event. Sophomore Tyler Klockars (Phillipston, Mass.) finished second, jumping 10.82 meters.

 

In the men's shot put, junior Kyle Moser (Southbury, Conn.) finished third with a 14.24 meter throw. Senior Luis Godoy (Newton, Mass.) came in eighth, as he picked up an 11.71 meter throw. In 11th place with a 10.02 meter throw was Klockars, and finishing off the event for the Leopards was senior Jack Crowley (Scituate, Mass.), who had a throw of 8.40 meters. Moser also competed in the men's weight thrown event, coming in fourth place with a 13.74 meter throw.

 

On the women's side, the Leopards had two runners in the 200 meter dash. Junior Colleen Sullivan (East Bridgewater, Mass.) had a second place finish with a time of 31.69 seconds, while freshman Erin MacLean (Newton, Mass.) finished third, crossing the line in 32.02. Sullivan also competed in the women's 400 meter, picking up a time of 1:12.15 and finishing fifth.

 

The Leopards' next meet is Saturday, Jan. 15, as they compete in the Tufts Jumbo Invitational, hosted by Tufts University, at 9:00 a.m.
