Track Competes at New England DIII Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The Wentworth Institute of Technology track and field team was back in action this weekend, competing at the New England DIII Men's Championships Saturday, Feb. 26. The Leopards finished 26th overall on the weekend, picking up six points total.

 

In the men's shot put event, junior Kyle Moser (Southbury, Conn.) finished in third place, coming in with a throw of 14.91 meters. Junior Jared Pierce (Biddeford, Maine) competed in the same event, putting in a 13.29 meter throw and placing 13th.

 

Junior Christian Army (Pembroke, N.H.) ran for the Leopards in the 60-meter hurdles, placing 20th with a time of 8.90 seconds. In the 1000-meter run, sophomore Jack Chausse (Newport, R.I.) crossed the line in 2:43.34, coming in 21st place.

 

Wentworth also competed in the men's 4x400 meter relay. The team of Army, junior Matt Murphy (Foxborough, Mass.), junior Ryan Abbotoni (Windham, Maine), freshman Scott Stehlik (Northport, N.Y.), ran for the Leopards, finishing in 3:42.38 while taking 19th place in the event.

 

The Leopards finish the indoor portion of their schedule Saturday, March 5, competing in the Tufts National Qualifying Meet.
