Moser Headlines Track and Field Award Winners, Taking Field Athlete of the Year Honors

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Wentworth Institute of Technology outdoor track and field team earned several yearly awards this season, as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) released the all-conference winners for the 2022 season Thursday afternoon.

Junior Kyle Moser (Southbury, Conn.) had the biggest haul for the Leopards. He earned field athlete of the year honors, then was named first-team all-conference in the shot put, second-team all-conference in the hammer throw, and third-team all-conference in the discus. Moser set new program records in the shot put (15.11 meters) and hammer throw (42.79 meters), while setting a personal best in the discus this year as well at 41.06 meters.

Junior Jared Pierce (Biddeford, Maine) was named CCC all-conference first-team in the discus, second-team in the shot put, and took third-team in the hammer throw. Pierce set a team record in the discus at 44.80 meters and had personal bests in the shot put and hammer throw. His shot put best was 14.63 meters, then was 41.27 meters in the hammer throw.

In the javelin, sophomore Tyler Klockars (Phillipstown, Mass.) took first-team all-conference honors. He set the program record in the event three times this season, capping it off with his best performance of the season at the New England DIII Championships with a throw of 54.20 meters.

Sophomore Eli Sleasman (Albany, N.Y.) was named to the first team as well, taking the all-conference award in the pole vault. He set a program record as well, coming in with a 4.00 meter pole vault earlier this season.

Freshman Scott Stehlik (Northport, N.Y.) was named to the all-conference second-team in the 200-meter dash this season. Stehlik had his best performance in the event at the CCC Championships, finishing in 22.79 seconds to set a team record.

In the high jump event, junior Dre Colas (Cambridge, Mass.) earned second-team all-conference. Colas set a record in the event at the CCC Championships with a jump of 1.83 meters. Sophomore Jack Chausse (Newport, R.I.) picked up third-team all-conference in the 1500-meter run. He also set a record at the CCC Championships, finishing with a time of 4:08.76.

Junior Christian Army (Pembroke, N.H.) took the all-conference third-team award in the 100-meter hurdles, while setting a program mark in the event with a 15.67 second finish April 9. The Leopards had a second member of the team earn all-conference in the pole vault, as freshman Nate Muller (Concord, N.H.) was named third-team all-conference in the event. Muller had a season-best 3.70 meter finish April 2.
