Outdoor Track Student-Athletes Pick up CCC Weekly Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – After a solid performance at the Bridgewater State Invitational this past Saturday, members of the Wentworth Institute of Technology outdoor track & field team have been honored by the Commonwealth Coast Conference with weekly awards. Senior Jared Pierce (Biddeford, Maine) earned CCC Field Athlete of the Week, freshman Fabrice Fouron (Easton, Mass.) took home CCC Field Rookie of the Week, and the 4X100M relay squad of senior Jordin Prampin (Worcester, Mass.), sophomore Ryan Abbotoni (Windham, Maine), senior Matt Murphy (Foxborough, Mass.), and freshman Kevin DeCollibus (Wareham, Mass.) were named the league's relay team of the week.

Fresh off an All-America season in indoor track, Pierce finished second in the shot put in his first outdoor event of the season, with a program-best throw of 15.59M. He also placed third in the hammer with a personal best throw of 42.78M, just 0.01M shy of tying the program record.

After setting the program record in the triple jump in indoor track, Fouron continued his impressive rookie campaign, winning the triple jump in his first outdoor competition with a program-record jump of 13.50M.

Wentworth's relay team pick up first place at the BSU Invitational as Prampin, Abbotoni, Murphy, and DeCollibus ran a time of 45.04 seconds, besting second place – also a Leopard relay team – by just over a half a second.

Wentworth will next compete at the Tufts Snowflake Invitational on Saturday, April 1.
