Three from Outdoor Track and Field Earn CCC Weekly Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – Following an exciting two days at the Silfen Invitational this past weekend, four student-athletes on the Wentworth Institute of Technology outdoor track and field team earned Commonwealth Coast Conference weekly honors for their respective performances. Junior Eli Sleasman (Albany, N.Y.) was named Field Athlete of the Week while freshman Ryan Ballard (Norwalk, Conn.) earned Track Rookie of the Week honors. Freshman Fabrice Fouron (North Easton, Mass.) took home Field Rookie of the Week honors while freshman Laci Santos (Medway, Mass.) took home the honor on the women's side.

Sleasman not only placed in first in the pole vault event but also set a new program record with his 4.70M mark. The junior also placed ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.34M.

Fouron was another student-athlete to leave his mark at the Silfen Invitational, finishing 3rd and setting a new program record in the triple jump with a mark of 13.56M. The rookie's weekend also featured a 1.75M finish in the high jump, good for an 11th place finish and a new personal best.

Santos' remarkable weekend led to a 2nd place finish in the Heptathlon with a program-high 3,449 points. She finished in the top five in all seven events she competed in and set new program records in the 100M hurdles (15.82), high jump (1.33M), shot put (8.75M), and 200M (27.90) events.

The Leopards will next compete at the Tufts Sunshine Classic on Saturday, April 21.
