Pierce Named CCC Field Athlete of the Year; Seven Earn All-CCC Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Jared Pierce (Biddeford, Maine) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology outdoor track & field team has been named the 2023 CCC Field Athlete of the Year as the league announced its major award winners and recognized its all-conference finishers on Friday afternoon. All-CCC performers were determined by performance at the league championship, with first place earning first team honors, second place earning second team honors, and third place picking up third team honors.

Pierce, who is Wentworth's second field athlete of the year in as many seasons, had an outstanding campaign for the Leopards, which included a pair of first-place finishes at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship. He picked up the gold with a mark of 15.85M in the shot put and a mark of 46.90M in the discus, while his program-record 45.44M hammer throw was second, earning all-conference in all three events. Last week at the Division III New England Championship, Pierce had a mark of 16.16M in the shot put to break his own record and put him 17th on the NCAA Division III performance list.

In addition to Pierce's all-conference recognition, six Leopards also were recognized as all-conference performers:
