WENHAM, Mass. – Freshman Ryan Ballard (Norwalk, Conn.) finished 11th and narrowly missed a top-10 finish at the Pop Crowell Invitational, run on the campus of Gordon College.
The 8K event featured 80 student-athletes representing six institutions. Wentworth posted a fifth-place finish with 141 points.
Ballard ran the course with a time of 27:37.1, missing finishing in the top 10 by one second. Freshman Jacob Thoms (Kingston, N.H.) placed 30th (24 points), crossing the line with a time of 29:21.8. Freshman Evin McIntire (Mansfield, Mass.) was 38th (31 points) with a time of 29:55.2. Sophomore Nick Whitcomb (Weymouth, Mass.) and senior Brendan Jeanjaquet (North Weymouth, Mass.) were the other Wentworth scoring runners. Whitcomb was 70th (37 points) with a finishing time of 34:08.9, while Jeanjaquet was right behind him with a 71st-place finish (38 points) after a time of 34:31.8
Sophomore Robbie McCue (Weymouth, Mass.) also competed for the Leopards, finishing 78th (36:38.9).
The Leopards compete again next Saturday (September 24) at the Codfish Bowl Invitational at Franklin Park in Boston.
