LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Senior Alexandra Pina (Cumberland, R.I.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology softball team picked up another yearly award, as she was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Third-Team (Region 2), as announced by the association Monday.
Pina had the best season of her career in 2022, leading the team in batting average (min. 10 AB) by hitting .393 on the year. She racked up 44 hits, 19 RBI, and broke the single-season program record with 18 doubles on the year. The senior also led the team in slugging percentage (.598) and on-base percentage (.440, min. 20 AB).
Pina's strong season helped the Leopards record the most wins in team history with 22 victories, as Wentworth reached the postseason for the first time since 2005 and advanced to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) quarterfinals.
