INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Roger Williams started the game with eight straight points, including four from Kendi Barnard. After a basket by sophomore guard Nattaly David (Hyde Park, Mass.), who tied a team-high for the Leopards with eight points on the night, the Hawks put up another seven unanswered points to extend the visitors' lead to 15-2 going into the second quarter.
  • Karli Opalka, who led all scorers with 15 points, picked up a few early baskets to extend Roger Williams' lead to 16, but a layup by freshman forward Maddy Foster (Lewiston, Maine) and a three pointer from senior guard Kayla Kelley (Boston, Mass.) pulled Wentworth to within 13. David made a free throw and jumper midway through the quarter to put the score at 23-11, but the visitors then closed out the quarter on a 9-2 run to take a 32-13 advantage into the half.
  • The Hawks put up seven straight points to start the third, pushing their lead up to 26 points. Freshman forward Gabby Amoddio (Wethersfield, Conn.) made a three late in the quarter as part of her eight-point effort on the night, but the Leopards were not able to pull closer as Roger Williams held a 47-22 lead heading into the final quarter.
  • Amoddio and David made back-to-back threes to start off the fourth, which was answered by the Hawks with a three of their own as part of seven straight points. A pair of late layups by Amoddio and freshman guard Brianna Carroll (Douglas, Mass) closed out the scoring on the night for the Leopards, as they lost a 60-32 decision to open up CCC play.
