INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Leopards faced an early 7-2 deficit as Julia Quinn, who led all scorers with 19 points, hit a three pointer in the opening minutes. Sophomore guard Nattaly David (Hyde Park, Mass.) knocked down a three of her own and junior guard Abriana Busbey (Palmer, Alaska) made a basket to get Wentworth within two points at 9-7, but the Golden Bears closed the quarter on an 11-2 run, capped off by a three pointer from Emma Kahn in the final seconds. The run gave Western New England a 20-9 lead entering the second.
  • Kahn made another three to start off the second quarter, which was answered by David, who drained a three of her own. Senior guard Kayla Kelley (Boston, Mass.) then made a pair of layups as the Leopards looked to get back in the game, but eight straight points by Quinn, including two from beyond the arc, put Wentworth in a 17 point hole. After a three by freshman guard Brianna Carroll (Douglas, Mass.), the Golden Bears closed out the half with six straight points, taking a 39-19 lead into the half.
  • Wentworth couldn't get going offensively in the third quarter, as Western New England outscored them 13-2 in the period to pull away for good. Kelley drained a pair of threes for the Leopards in the fourth to add to her team-high 12 points on the night, but the Golden Bears closed out the game strong, picking up a 70-31 victory.
