INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Four different players got on the board for Endicott as the visitors jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the opening three minutes. The Leopards were not able to get going offensively, being held to four points in the first quarter as Endicott got scoring throughout their lineup and held a 26-4 lead after one.
  • Wentworth fared much better in the second quarter, as the Leopards outscored the Gulls 17-10 in the period, shooting 54 percent from the field. Senior guard Kayla Kelley (Boston, Mass.) got things started with a three pointer, as the senior scored seven consecutive points as part of a 9-0 run for the home team. After Endicott built the lead back up to 20, the Leopards were able to close the gap once again. A jumper by sophomore guard Nattaly David (Hyde Park, Mass.) and a three pointer from freshman guard Brianna Carroll (Douglas, Mass.) cut into the lead, as Endicott took a 36-21 lead into halftime.
  • After the teams traded baskets early in the third, freshman forward Maddy Foster (Lewiston, Maine) drained a three to bring Wentworth within 12 points. With Endicott holding a 41-26 lead with four minutes remaining in the period, the Leopards scored seven unanswered points, including five from David, who led Wentworth with 13 points on the night to get within eight. However, the Gulls closed the quarter out strong and pushed their lead back up to 13 to start the fourth.
  • A jumper by Kelley and a pair of baskets from Foster pulled the Leopards within 10 in the fourth, but five straight points from the visitors put the score out of reach, as Endicott outscored Wentworth 17-15 in the final period and picked up a 64-49 victory.
