Amoddio Drains Career High Versus Curry

MILTON, Mass. – Junior Gabby Amoddio (Wethersfield, Conn.) dropped a career-high 27 points as the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's basketball team (3-12, 0-10 CCC) battled the Curry Colonels (7-11, 2-8 CCC) in league play Thursday evening, falling up short by a 76-56 score.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Colonels began the opening frame scoring 11 straight, with four coming from freshman Kasey Reeves (Millbury, Mass.). Nine straight by Amoddio cut the deficit to 11-9 before sophomore Lauren Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) drained a three to mark a 14-9 game. Four straight for the Leopards dwindled the deficit to 14-13, but two free throws for the Colonels gave the hosts a 16-13 lead after the first quarter.
  • Curry opened the second quarter on a 12-2 run, led by eight points from Dunn, to extend their lead to 28-15. The two teams traded scores, working the game to 30-20, before a Dunn three was matched by two from freshman Reagan Madonia (Corrales, N.M.) to mark a 33-22 score. The two teams traded baskets to bring the score to 35-27 at the halfway mark.
  • Two points by freshman Samantha Conti (Woodbury, Conn.) gave Curry a 37-27 advantage in the third quarter before four points, two aside by Amoddio and Madonia, cut the deficit to 37-31. The Colonels went on a 9-1 run following, with six points from Dunn and another three from Conti, to mark a 46-32 score. The Leopards and Colonels ended the quarter swapping scores with the hosts holding a 54-43 lead.
  • The Colonels began the final frame on an 11-4 run, featuring six points by Reeves, to extend their lead to 65-47. Two points by Amoddio cut the deficit to 65-49 before the two teams traded points, with the Colonels grabbing hold of a 76-56 win.
  • Amoddio drained a career-high and game-high 27 points, along with four steals, two blocks, two assists, and two rebounds. Dunn led the Colonels and followed with 26 points, including five three-point makes.
