BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team took home two conference awards this week, as senior Sarah Galan (Colchester, Conn.) won Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Offensive Player of the Week, while senior Allie Lauersen (York, Maine) took Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The Leopards won both of their games this past week, starting with a 24-2 victory over the University of Maine-Farmington. Galan set a new team record in that contest, scoring 12 goals in the game, including the 100th of her collegiate career. For the week, she scored 20 goals and had two assists, while adding six ground balls and four caused turnovers on the defensive side. Lauersen had a strong week for Wentworth as well, picking up 10 ground balls, 16 draw controls, and seven caused turnovers. She also scored one goal and had six assists in the two games.
The Leopards are back in action Thursday, March 24, when they are on the road at Worcester State University for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
