BOSTON, Mass. – The Lesley University women's soccer team scored three times in the second half – including twice in a span of 4:23 – to erase a 1-all tie and lift the Lynx to a 4-1 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology in the season opener for both squads.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wentworth jumped on the board early, taking a 1-0 lead on sophomore Mckenzie Collins' (Seymour, Conn.) first collegiate goal just 66 seconds into the contest. Collins put home a rebound of a junior Madison Wolf (Falmouth, Maine) shot, which was initially saved. Lesley countered with a goal at 19:03 when Chloe Kouyoumdjian (La Canada, Calif.) scored.
  • Senior Claire Hounslow (Westborough, Mass.) put the visitors ahead when she flicked a header inside the left post at 57:37 to make it 2-1 before sophomore Ariana Bunch (Newton, Mass.) struck at the 62:00 mark, making it a 3-1 game. Senior Gabby Lara (Denville, N.J.) completed the scoring with a goal with 18:36 left.
  • Sophomore Adrianna Arona (Westfield, Mass.) and freshman Juliana Heaton (Swansea, Mass.) split time in net for the Black & Gold, making two saves each.

THE SERIES:

  • Today marked the second all-time meeting between the two teams. Lesley holds a 2-0 series edge.
