Suffolk Pulls Away from Women's Soccer

BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman Jenny Montville (Plainville, Mass.) scored for the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team but Suffolk responded with four unanswered goals as the Rams defeated the Leopards, 4-1, in Commonwealth Coast Conference play Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wentworth struck first in the contest, with Montville scoring off a high shot at the 13:14 mark. For Montville, it was her fourth marker of the season which ties her for the team lead.
  • Suffolk responded with a goal just 47 seconds later when junior Haley Long (Exeter, N.H.) put a shot to the upper right corner to tie the game at 1-all.
  • The Leopards nearly went ahead with 16 minutes left in the first half, however, Montville's bid on a breakaway was stopped by senior Allison Rodrigues (North Andover, Mass.)
  • The Rams pulled ahead, 2-1, at the 6:01 mark of the second half on a goal from Chelsea Fallon (Saint Johns, Fla.) when she put home a rebound off a shot that initially hit the post.
  • Suffolk scored at the 69:09 and 86:22 marks to push its lead to 4-1 as junior Nicole Morin-Trotta (Westminster, Mass.) and sophomore Klaudia Rushi (Beverly, Mass.) provided the goals and senior Carely Pearce (Bridgewater, Mass.) providing an assist on both goals.

THE SERIES:

  • Tonight was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
