BOSTON, Mass. – Graduate student Diana Bruggeman (Natick, Mass.) scored the game' only goal and sophomore Juliana Heaton (Swansea, Mass.) made a pair of saves as the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team edged Gordon, 1-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference play Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Wentworth had a pair of corner kicks early and the second one, coming at the 10:24 mark, created a scoring chance which saw the senior Adriana Valenti (Bolton, Mass.) have a shot attempt blocked.
• Just 30 seconds later, the Leopards jumped on the board. Freshman Lina Arlander (Skjetten, Norway) sent a pass through the box towards Bruggeman. Bruggeman collected the ball and sent a shot home.
• Gordon had a scoring chance off a corner kick in the 14th minute, however, the header went wide. Wentworth put shots on net in the 27th and 38th minute but both were saved by Gordon freshman Emily Bengtson (Anthem, Ariz.).
• An early corner kick in the second half gave the Fighting Scots a chance to tie the game but the shot was off the mark. In the 76th minute, Heaton came up with a save off a shot by sophomore Kristi Di Rico (Wayne, Pa.) to keep the game 1-0.
• Heaton came up with another save in the 82nd minute and Gordon's last-second shot attempt sailed high of the net as time expired.

THE SERIES:

• Today was the 31st all-time meeting between the two teams. Wentworth snapped a five-game series losing streak and six-game (5-0-1) series winless streak, picking up a series win for the fist time since the 2016 CCC Championship game. Gordon leads all-time, 20-9-2.

• Wentworth hosts the University of New England on Wednesday afternoon.
