Sollecito, Collins Pick up All-CCC Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – Two student-athletes from the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's tennis team have earned recognition from the Commonwealth Coast Conference as they were named to the 2021 Commonwealth Coast Conference Women's Tennis All-Conference teams as the league announced its major award winners and all-conference teams on Friday afternoon. Senior Ali Sollecito (Taunton, Mass.) was named Third Team All-CCC for her play in singles and she and sophomore doubles partner Morgan Collins (Warwick, R.I.) earned third team all-conference honors in doubles play. The Leopards were also the recipients of the team sportsmanship award.

Voting for the All-CCC Teams and major awards was conducted by the eight CCC head women's tennis coaches following the conclusion of the regular season.

Sollecito becomes the first Leopard women's tennis player to earn All-CCC honors all four years of playing, as she was a first team selection as a freshman and was named to the second team in her sophomore and junior seasons. Playing at No. 1 singles throughout her career, she picked up a conference victory over Gordon on April 3 and had numerous close matches throughout the season. During her freshman season she posted 10 wins, which ties her for second on the program's all-time list and she is tied for second in Wentworth history with 26 career wins.

For the past two seasons, Sollecito and Collins have been the No. 1 doubles tandem for the Black & Gold and have proven to be a competitive draw at the top of the lineup, playing several competitive matches, including going to tiebreaker in Wentworth's opening match of the season.
