Women's Volleyball Picks Up Fifth Straight Victory in Impressive Win Over Lesley

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Abby Warren (Gilmanton, N.H.) led the way for the Leopards with 11 kills, as Wentworth extended its winning streak to five with a 3-0 victory over Lesley University Thursday evening at Tansey Gymnasium.

WENTWORTH STAT LEADERS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After the teams traded points early on, Wentworth went on a roll, winning 10 of the next 11 points to put the first set out of reach, going on to a 25-5 victory in set one. The home team hit .556 in set one.
  • Warren picked up seven of her game-high 11 kills in the first.
  • The Leopards picked up where they left off at the start of the second set, as Kakuk had four consecutive service aces to start the middle frame, and finished the night with seven service aces total.
  • Wentworth then closed out the second on a 13-4 run, extending their lead to two sets to none while hitting .391.
  • With the teams tied 3-3 in the third set, the Leopards took control by picking up 10 of the next 13 points, then finished the set with seven consecutive points to pick up the victory.
  • Wentworth hit .417 as a team during the match.

THE SERIES:

  • Tonight was the 10th ever meeting between the two programs. Wentworth now holds a 7-3 advantage.

NEXT UP:

  • Wentworth now heads back on the road for a tri-match Sautrday, Sept. 11. The Leopards will face WPI in their first match at 11:00 a.m., and will take the court against Anna Maria at 1:00 p.m.
