RECORDS

WENTWORTH STAT LEADERS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wentworth started off strong in the first set. They were able to get contributions throughout the lineup and had seven different players record a kill in a wire-to-wire 25-13 victory to take a 1-0 lead.
  • The second set was very tightly contested, as neither team was able to gain a sizeable lead. The Leopards took an early 6-3 lead, but the Corsairs were able to win the next three points to draw even. The visitors were able to maintain a small lead throughout most of the set, and eventually went up 23-19. But UMass Dartmouth tallied four consecutive points to tie the set, and won three of the next four to win a close 26-24 second set to tie the match at 1-1.
  • Wentworth once again held an early advantage in the beginning of the third set, but the Corsairs then came back with a strong rally. The home team went on a 12-3 run to take an eight point lead, and were able to carry that momentum to a 25-16 victory in the set to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
  • It was a similar script in the fourth, as the Leopards jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the early stages, only to have UMass Dartmouth come back once again. The Corsairs went on to win 16 of the next 20 points to take a nine point lead in the third, and Wentworth was unable to close the gap as the Corsairs took the fourth set by a 25-14 score, and won the match three sets to one.

  • Tonight was the 15th ever meeting between the two programs. UMass Dartmouth now holds a 10-5 advantage.
