Waggoner Named to Academic All-District Team

BOSTON, Mass. – College Sports Communicators (formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America) recently released its 2022 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Teams. These teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Wentworth Institute of Technology senior Riley Waggoner earned the program's first Academic All-District honors since the 2014 season and is Wentworth's 35th Academic All-District selection since 1995.

A two-time All-Commonwealth Coast Conference selection, Waggoner played in 24 matches (88 sets) this season, recording 181 kills (2.06 per set) and 44 blocks (0.50 per set) while hitting .304. She had 10 or more kills in six matches, including recording 13 when she hit .813 (13-0-16) in a 3-0 win at Nichols. In 75 career matches (257 sets) she recorded 484 kills, 116 digs, and 134 blocks. On the program's all-time lists she ranks second in attack percentage (310), fifth in blocks per set (0.52), 10th in total blocks (134), and 12th in total kills (12th).

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late December.
