Women's Cross Country Opens Season at Suffolk Short Course Classic

BOSTON, Mass. – Kicking off its second season of varsity competition, the Wentworth Institute of Technology cross country team competed at the Suffolk Short Course Classic Friday morning in Franklin Park.

Five Leopard student-athletes were among the 125 runners who competed in the three-kilometer race, which included 15 institutions across all three NCAA divisions.

Freshman Annie King (Wakefield, Mass.) had an impressive debut for the Black & Gold, finishing 53rd with a time of 12:57.7 to earn 48 points. Senior Colleen Sullivan (East Bridgewater, Mass.) was 75th (70 points) with a time of 13:53.2. Freshman Makayla Gasper (Manchester, Iowa) crossed the line in a time of 14:26.6 to finish 89th (80 points) in her collegiate debut. Sophomores Erin MacLean (Newton, Mass.) and Megan Leger (Westminster, Mass.) finished with times of 15:29.7 and 17:25.2, respectively, which was good for 97th (84 points) and 118th place (95 points). As a team, the Black & Gold scored 377 points to finish 13th.

Wentworth is at the Ron Ouellette Invitational in Biddeford, Maine, next Saturday.
