Bourgonje Named ECAC Northeast Player of the Week

BOSTON, Mass. – After scoring a goal and assisting on three others, senior forward Jordan Bourgonje (Spruce Grove, Alta.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology has been named the ECAC Northeast Player of the Week for games played through January 4.

Bourgonje, who was named to the all-tournament team at the Salem State Invitational, helped the Leopards defeat Wesleyan for the first time since 2005 as he had an assist in the first period of a 4-3 victory. The following day he scored a goal and assisted on two others as Wentworth tied Salem State, 3-3. His second assist of the day was on the game-tying goal, which came with 51.7 seconds left in the second period. The Leopards claimed the title after edging the Vikings, 1-0, in a shootout.

Having played in nine of the team's 13 contests, Bourgonje is tied for second on the team with seven points, coming on two goals and five assists. His five helpers also tie him for the team lead. In three seasons (48 career games) he has 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points.

At 6-5-2, Wentworth hosts Manhattanville on Sunday afternoon at 5:30 p.m.
