A.T. DiPina headlines Leopards' accolades with All-CCC Second Team nod; Christian Peruzzi and Matthew Favazzo round out Wentworth's awards as third team members
BEVERLY, Mass. – Following the Leopards' first appearance in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament since 2018, three student-athletes from the Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball team garnered CCC postseason honors as announced by the league office Monday morning. Senior catcher A.T. DiPina (Pawtucket, R.I.) was named to the All-CCC Second Team while the duo of senior first baseman Christian Peruzzi (Plymouth, Mass.) and sophomore second baseman Matthew Favazzo (Lexington, Mass.) were each named to the league's third team. The Black & Gold's three honorees are the most the team has had since 2017.
The postseason awards were voted on by the league's eight head coaches prior to the start of the conference tournament.
DiPina headlines Wentworth's honorees after the best season of his career in 2024, leading the Leopards with a.415 batting average and 54 hits, with both marks being the second highest in a single season in program history. His 31 runs scored, 13 doubles, and on base percentage of .487 also led the team while he chipped in with 13 stolen bases. The catcher also sported a fielding percentage of .992, the second-highest among Leopards who played in 30 or more games.
For his career, DiPina holds the second-highest batting average (.360) and third-highest on base percentage (.438) in the Leopards' all-time career rankings. The senior finishes just seven hits short of the century mark while totaling 22 doubles and 57 RBI tacked on to a slugging percentage of .484.
Peruzzi was one of the Black & Gold's most efficient playmakers behind DiPina, recording a team-high 32 RBI while also rapping 44 hits. The senior hit .303 with a slugging percentage of .434 and an on base percentage of .395. Peruzzi led the Leopards with two triples and chipped in nine doubles and two home runs. Defensively, Peruzzi placed third team-wide with a fielding percentage of .990.
Peruzzi's career marks include the third-highest fielding percentage in program history (.986), alongside 124 hits, 28 doubles, four triples, and six home runs on the offensive side. The senior surpassed the 100-career hits plateau back in March.
After being one of the Leopards' most consistent performers as a rookie in 2023, Favazzo earned his first all-conference recognition after booming 48 hits, including 11 doubles, and drove in 28 runs in 2024, with all three marks being the second-highest among Leopards, alongside a batting percentage of .324, an on base percentage of .407, and a slugging percentage of .399. The sophomore also sported a fielding percentage of .959.
Through two seasons, Favazzo has 69 hits, including 13 doubles, and 34 RBI. After 2024, his career batting average rocketed to .292 while holding a .379 on base percentage and a .356 slugging percentage.
