Roncal Earns ABCA All-Defensive Team Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The postseason awards continued to hit home for the Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball team yesterday as freshman outfielder Christian Roncal (Glendale, Ariz.) was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association's (ABCA) All-Defensive Team for Region II.

Roncal repped the Leopards and was joined on the team by five other student-athletes from the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The rookie is the second member of the Black & Gold to earn a regional honor in recent history, joining senior A.T. DiPina (Pawtucket, R.I.) who was named an ABCA All-Region Third Team member earlier this postseason.

In 2024, Roncal was the only Leopard to hold a fielding percentage of 1.000 while suiting up for 30 or more games, playing in 39 of Wentworth's 40 games. Of his 100 total chances, the rookie finished third on the team with 97 putouts and capped the total with three assists.

Roncal added to his first collegiate season offensively with 40 hits, including six doubles, and 17 RBI.

This season, Wentworth made their first appearance in the CCC Tournament since 2018 and had their winningest season (21-19) since 2011.
