Cobbers Take Pair from Baseball
Concordia-Moorehead defeats Leopards, 3-2 and 13-2; A.T. DiPina records his 100th career hit

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – A.T. DiPina became the 26th Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball student-athlete to record 100 career hits when he had a pair of hits in the Leopards' 13-2 loss to Concordia-Moorehead in game two of a doubleheader. Wentworth was defeated by the Cobbers, 3-2, in the opener.
GAME ONE: Concordia-Moorehead 3, Wentworth 2
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a scoreless first inning, Concordia-Moorhead got on the board in the top of the second as a one-out groundout put the Cobbers on the board.
- Wentworth responded with a run in the bottom of the inning to tie the score. With one out, DiPina reached on a two-base error and came around to score on a John Golebieski RBI single.
- Concordia-Moorehead plated a pair of runs in the third inning to go on top, 3-1. With runners on first and second, a single through the right side plated a run, while a sacrifice fly produced the other.
- The game remained 3-1 until the bottom of the seventh when the Leopards nearly tied the game. With one out, Golebieski hit an infield single and pinch runner Nick Tiana went to second on a Mike Sibert single. Christian Roncal walked to load the bases before Jake Prisco grounded out, scoring Tiani. However, with the tying and winning runs in scoring position, a ground out ended the game.
- Golebieski went 2-for-3 and drove in a run. Chase Carder took the loss (0-1), allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and striking out six in 4.2 innings of work. Jacob DeCoste allowed just one hit and one walk in 2.1 innings of relief.
GAME TWO: Concordia-Moorehead 13, Wentworth 2
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a scoreless inning and a half, the Cobbers scored four times in the bottom of the fourth, with two coming on a two-run triple, while also scoring on a single and a sacrifice fly.
- Wentworth got a run in the top of the third inning as Matthew Favazzo grounded out to score Mike Sibert. Sibert led off the inning with a walk and went to second when Roncal walked. Prisco followed with a sacrifice bunt, moving both players up 90 feet. Favazzo followed with the RBI groundout. The bottom of the inning saw Concordia-Moorehead score five times, which included a two-run single to go along with a pair of RBI singles and an RBI triple.
- Sibert led off the fifth inning with a double and went to third on a wild pitch. Roncal singled him home to make the score 9-2. The Cobbers used a pair of sacrifice flies in the bottom of the inning to extend the lead to 11-2 and added two more in the sixth inning to round out the scoring.
- DiPina had two of Wentworth's hits, while Sibert had one in addition to scoring a pair of runs. Michael Archambault
