Rivier Rallies Past Baseball
Raiders score four unanswered runs to take an 8-6 decision; Mike Sibert records a pair of hits while Nick Tiani hits a three-run home run

WEYMOUTH, Mass. – The Rivier University baseball team scored four unanswered runs over the seventh and eighth innings to come from behind and defeat Wentworth Institute of Technology, 8-6, in non-conference action Thursday afternoon.
With the win the Raiders improve to 5-4 while the Leopards slip to 2-9.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- With one out and runners at the corners in the top of the first inning, Rivier used a safety squeeze to push across the first run of the game.
- John Golebiewski led off the second inning with a single and Jake Prisco followed with a fielder's choice that erased Golebiewski. Prisco advanced to second on a wild pitch and went to third on a Cyle Archer single. With two outs, Christian Roncal reached on an error that allowed Prisco to score, tying the game at 1-all.
- The Raiders put up three runs in the top of the fourth, scoring on an RBI single, an RBI double, and a wild pitch to increase their lead to 4-1.
- Jame Samela led off the fifth inning with a walk and, with one out, went to second on an A.T. DiPina single. Matt Robinson followed with an RBI single, plating Samela to make it 4-2. DiPina stole third and scored on an error, which also put Robinson at second. Golebiewski walked, and, after the second out he moved to second when Prisco was hit by a pitch. Nick Tiani came up as a pinch hitter and launched his first collegiate home run, giving the Black & Gold a 6-4 lead.
- Rivier pulled within a run in the seventh when the Raiders scored on a passed ball and took the lead in the eighth, thanks to an RBI single and a two-run single.
- Mike Sibert paced Wentworth's offense with a pair of hits, while Tiana drove in three. Jacob DeCoste took the loss (0-1).
ALL-TIME SERIES:
- Today was the third all-time meeting between the two teams. Wentworth leads, 2-1.
