Men's Basketball Sinks Wheaton in Home Opener
Leopards best Lyons, 74-57; Jack Connell and Russell Dolabany score in double-figures

BOSTON, Mass. – Jack Connell and Russell Dolabany each scored in double-figures as the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's basketball team (1-1) notched their first win of the season in their home opener over the Wheaton Lyons (1-3), 74-57, on Saturday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Wentworth opened the night on a 9-3 run, capped by a three from Sean Racette, before two-point makes by Connell and Dolabany later marked a 13-5 score. Eoin Morrissey drained a three to cut the deficit to 13-8 before another three by Jayden Williams later in the stretch marked a 20-10 advantage for the Leopards.
- After Dolabany secured an and-on sequence, bringing the lead to 23-10, the two teams swapped scores, with a make by Tristan Herry cutting the Lyons' deficit to 25-16. The two teams again traded scores to finish the half, the Leopards edging the Lyons 8-7, to hold on for a 33-23 lead at the break.
- Wheaton began the second half on a 5-0 run before a Connell layup marked a 35-30 score. A Dolabany three later extended the lead at 40-34 before the Leopards went on a 10-0 run, consisting mainly of free throws, to hold a 50-34 advantage. The two teams traded points before four-straight by Connell marked a 57-43 game.
- A Connell three marked a 60-44 score, later to be matched with a Morrissey three to cut the Lyons' deficit to 62-53. A Dolabany three marked a 65-53 game before the Leopards finished the night on a 9-4 run to take a 74-57 win.
- Connell (22 points) and Dolabany (14 points, 4-5 FG) led the offensive attack for Wentworth, followed by Racette (9 points) and Williams (8 points, team-high seven rebounds).
