Golf Finishes Fifth at CCC Qualfier

GRAFTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team carded a 323 to finish fifth at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Qualifier, held at the par 72, 6,474-yard Highfields Golf & Country Club. The Leopards' fifth-place finish was just one shot behind Roger Williams' 322 as the Hawks completed the four teams who will compete at the 2019 CCC Championship.

Defending conference champion Western New England carded a 302 and will host the two-day championship at a site to be determined the weekend of April 27-28. Nichols (306) and Endicott (309) will join the Golden Bears and the Hawks for the chance to claim the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships.

Sophomore Sancho Rodriquez (San Roque, Spain) finished tied for ninth with a five-over 77, which included a one-over 37 on the front nine. Junior Sean L'Italien (Pembroke, Mass.) finished tied for 16th among the 34-golfer field as he shot a two-over 38 on the back nine to finish with an 80. Senior Brian Bak (South Hadley, Mass.) finished in 21st place with a 10-over 82, while junior Matthew Pleshaw (Franklin, Mass.) was tied for 22nd with an 84. Freshman Nicholas Kurtz (Dover, N.H.) was 33rd on the day.

Wentworth travels to South Shore Country Club on Tuesday, September 25, for a tri-match against Eastern Nazarene and Roger Williams.
