Golf Opens Spring Slate at Rhode Island College

WARWICK, R.I. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team kicked off the spring portion of its schedule at the Rhode Island College Spring Invitational, which was contested at the par 72, 6,458-yard Valley Country Club.

As a team, the Leopards shot a two-day total of 695, carding a 352 on Friday and shaving 12 strokes off that score on Saturday to finish with a 343. This score was good for 13th place.

Senior Brian Bak (South Hadley, Mass.) had a solid showing for the Black & Gold, finishing tied for 26th among the 73-player field as he shot a 162 (81-81). Junior Matthew Pleshaw (Franklin, Mass.) finished 54th after shooting a 172 (87-85), while classmate Sean L'Italien (Pembroke, Mass.) was tied for 61st with a 178 (91-87). Sophomore Sancho Rodriguez (San Roque, Spain) rounded out Wentworth's four scoring golfers with a 183 (93-90). Senior Matthew Dean (Gilford, N.H.) also competed for Wentworth, finishing with a 195.

The Leopards next compete at the Wildcat Spring Invitational, which will be hosted by Johnson & Wales this weekend.
