Golf Wraps up Season at CCC Championship

BEVERLY, Mass. – Junior Nicholas Kurtz (Dover, N.H.) recorded a top-10 finish as the Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team wrapped up the 2021 season at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship, played at the par 70, Beverly Golf & Tennis Club. The Leopards finished sixth with a two-day total of 655 (321-334). Western New England won the CCC Championship with a 623 (303-318), followed by Endicott (626 (313-313)) and Nichols (634 (312-322)). The Golden Bears earn the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships, to be held May 11-14, at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, W.Va.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wentworth entered the day in sixth place after Sunday's opening round as the Leopards shot a 321 as a team, just 18 shots off Western New England. Kurtz led the Leopards with a 77 in the opening round, which placed him eighth.
  • Kurtz finished the tournament with a 158, placing him 10th, nine shots of Medalist Nick Grimbilas of host Endicott.
  • Junior Jared Turgeon (Dover, N.H.) finished in 14th place, shooting an 81 on Sunday and an 80 on Monday.
    Senior Sancho Rodriguez (San Rogue, Spain) tied for 24th, shooting a 168 (81-87).
  • Sophomore Albert Duart (Lleida, Spain) and senior Wil Eddy (Kingston, Mass.) each shot a 174 over the two rounds, both tying for 31st. Duart carded an 82-92, while Eddy finished with an 88-86.
  • Rodriguez and Eddy closed out their collegiate careers after today's round.
