Golf Opens Fall Season at CCC Qualifier

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team kicked off the fall portion of its 2022-2023 season competing at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Fall Qualifier.

The event, played at the Par 71, 6,830-yard Green Valley Country Club, featured all eight schools in the CCC that sponsor men's golf with the top four teams advancing to the conference championship, to be contested the weekend of April 29-30.

For the second year in a row, Nichols will serve as the host for the championship as the Bison finished first with a score of 309 (+25). Endicott finished second (311), Suffolk was third (317), and host Roger Williams edged Western New England for the fourth spot, finishing with a 319. Endicott's Brady Burke was fist, shooting an even par 71.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Senior Ben Wright (Boxborough, Mass.) finished tied for 15th, shooting an 81, as Wentworth's medalist for the round. Senior Guillaume Bose (San Jose, Calif.) tied for 34th with an 89. Sophomore Nico Alonso (Madrid, Spain) was 36th with a 91. Classmate Ryan Dandrea (Lakeville, Mass.) rounded out the Leopards' scoring golfers, tying for 38th with a 93.
  • Junior Dan Clapp (Rehoboth, Mass.) also competed for the Black & Gold, carding a 101 on the day.

  • Wentworth will compete at the Mitchell Invitational on Thursday, October 6.
