Golf Wraps up Fall Schedule at NEIGA Championships

BREWSTER, Mass. – Wrapping up the fall portion of the 2022-2023 schedule the Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team competed at the 87th Annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championships, where were contested this weekend at the Captains Course.

The Leopards placed 21st out of 23 teams, posting a two-day total of 662 (330-332). The Black & Gold were two shots behind 20th place University of New England. Babson College repeated as champions, posting a +3 579. Middlebury's Sean McGarrity took home medalist honors, as he was one for four student-athletes to shoot under par for the weekend, finishing with a 141 (-3).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Senior Ben Wright (Boxborough, Mass.) finished tied for 68th, shooting a two-day total of 163 (77-86). Classmate Guillaume Bose (San Jose, Calif.) was a shot behind him, finishing in a tie for 74th with a 164 (84-80), while sophomore Ryan Dandrea (Lakeville, Mass.) tied for 79th with a 165 (82-83).
  • Sophomore Nico Alonso (Madrid, Spain) shaved seven strokes off his Saturday score of 90 as he shot an 83 on Sunday to finish tied for 96th (173). Junior Dan Clapp (Rehoboth, Mass.) placed 104th with a 177 (87-90).
  • Dandrea and Alonso each carded four birdies on the weekend.

NEXT UP:

  • Wentworth will compete in a full slate of matches this spring.
