GROTON, Conn. – Paced by a third-place finish from Garrett Kendall, the Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team opened its season with a second-place finish at the Mitchell College Invitational.
Kendall, playing in his first collegiate match, carded a four-over 75 to tie for third as the Leopards shot a 318 on the day. Eastern Connecticut won with a 298, with Western Connecticut finishing third (326) and the host Mariners placing fourth (351).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Fellow rookie Jon Dumais was the second Leopard to crack the top 10 as he carded a 78 in his collegiate debut to tie for eighth.
- Pablo Artero finished with an 82, good for 12th place.
- Ethan Lackner was a stroke behind Artero, tying for 13th place with an 83.
- Dan Clapp also competed for the Black & Gold, finishing 17th with a 94.
