Dumais Finishes 12th at Conference of New England Championship
Freshman Jon Dumais shot a 154 over the to-day event to pace the Leopards
MARBLEHEAD, Mass. – Jon Dumais carded a two-day total of 154 (77-77) to finish tied for 12th for the Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team at the Conference of New England Championship, played at the Par 70, 6,448-yard Tedesco Country Club.
As a team, the Leopards placed eighth with a two-round score of 651. After carding a 340 in Tuesday's opening round, the Black & Gold shot a season-low 311 on Wednesday to hold their eighth-place slot. Defending champion Roger Williams (598) edged out Endicott (599) by a single stroke to earn the conference championship an automatic berth into the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship in Rochester, N.Y.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Dumais shot a season low 77 on Tuesday and matched that up with a 77 on Wednesday. In Wednesday's second round he was +1 at the turn after making an eagle on the ninth hole.
- Classmate Garrett Kendall improved seven places between round one and round two as he shot a 76 on Wednesday to finish with a 164 and a 34th-place finish.
- Pablo Artero bounced back from shooting a 95 on Tuesday to firing a 75 on Wednesday, which included a pair of birdies. His 170 placed him 41st.
- Ethan Lackner finished 42nd, after shooting a 171 (88-83). Lackner had three birdies in the tournament, including two on Tuesday.
- Ryan Vincent placed 43rd after shooting a two-day total of 174.
