EAST BOSTON, Mass. – Two goals by sophomore Cole Scott (Media, Pa.) proved the be the difference in a Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup between the Suffolk Rams men's ice hockey team (2-12-2, 2-7-1 CCC) and the Wentworth Institute of Technology (6-10-1, 2-7-1 CCC) as the Rams rallied from being down early to earn a 4-1 victory Friday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Leopards got on the board just over three minutes into the game as graduate Brendan Young (Lefroy, Ont.) notched his sixth goal of the season, beating junior CJ Hapward (West Caldwell, N.J.) on a pass by freshman Dane Probe (Calgary, Alta.).
- The hosts evened the score just under midway through the opening frame at the 9:22 mark as Scott rifled the puck into the goal, tying the game at one aside.
- Suffolk took a one-goal edge 59 seconds into the second period on a tally by freshman Adam McNabney (Baltimore, Md.) on a rush that originally started with a play out by Hapward.
- Scott found the twine for the second time 3:16 into the third period, giving the Rams a 3-1 cushion, as his second goal beat sophomore Jack McGovern (Ancaster, Ont.).
- Suffolk extended their lead to three with just 1:40 left in the third period as freshman Scott McManus (Castro Valley, Calif.) cashed in on the empty net.
- Hapward blanked 34 of the Leopards' 35 shots in the contest while McGovern turned aside 27 in the setback.
