Golden Bears score four-straight goals after Leopards took 2-0 lead; Alex Walicki tallies goal and assist

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Behind 2-0, the Western New England Golden Bears' men's ice hockey team scored four-straight goals to help clip the Wentworth Institute of Technology by a 4-3 score in Conference of New England action Saturday night.
The Golden Bears earn their first conference win of the season and improve to 2-5-1 (1-4-1 CNE). The Leopards fall to 3-4-1 (2-3-1 CNE).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Black & Gold got on the board first, striking at the 6:57 mark as a puck off the corner boards from George Kolovos was scooped up by Cade Penney, who brought the rock right to the net and gave Wentworth a 1-0 edge.
- Wentworth padded the lead to 2-0 just 1:20 later as a dish by Alex Walicki found Dane Probe in the low slot, with Probe firing one into the net. The Golden Bears cut the deficit to 2-1 just 48 seconds later as Philippe Longchamps tucked home a back-door tap-in.
- WNE knotted the score at two aside as a silky move while short-handed by Justin Sullivan led to a shot that proved to be successful, marking a 2-2 score at the 4:11 mark of the second period.
- The Golden Bears took a 3-2 edge with 54 seconds left in the second as a shot from Everest Schneider on the powerplay from atop the circle snuck to the back of the net. WNE added to their lead at the 13:13 mark of the third frame as Longchamps scored his second of the night on a two-on-one break.
- With an empty net, Wentworth cut the deficit to 4-3 with 1:20 left in the third period as a shot from Walicki right in the slot found the twine. Anthony Aureliano came up with a huge save in the wanning seconds of the period to fend off the Leopards' challenge and earn a 4-3 victory.
- Aureliano made 39 saves for the Golden Bears to preserve the win while Topher Chirico made 29 in goal for the Leopards.
