HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Colonels jumped on the board as Nick Perfetuo found the back of the cage just 1:58 into the contest. However, senior Andrew diPalma (West Orange, N.J.) responded with his fourth goal of the season just 1:50 later.
  • Curry tallied the next three goals to open up a 4-1 lead. Andrew DeLeary and Jack Dacey combined for the goals with their run ending with 5:55 to go in the opening quarter.
  • Wentworth regained its scoring momentum on a faceoff win by junior Radu Stancescu (Suffern, N.Y.). He won the draw and drove towards goal, firing a shot that was saved by Liam O'Neill. However, sophomore Liam Carroll (Brookfield, Conn.) scooped up the rebound and fired a one-handed shot by the Colonel goalkeeper to make the score 4-2. Carroll would add his second of the game with 1:40 to go in the quarter.
  • Dacey finished off his hat trick with 50 seconds left in the opening frame to give the Colonels a 5-3 lead.
  • The Wentworth defense stood tall to open the second quarter and that would pay dividends as junior Calvin McKenna (Lake Tapps, Wash.) got the Leopards to within one with 8:24 remaining in the half. He drove the field after junior Jack Munroe (Mansfield, Mass.) sprung the offense into the attacking end. McKenna added his second of the contest and the quarter with 3:35 remaining, tying the game at 5-all.
  • The Leopard defense continued their dominance and continued to push the momentum into the home team's favor, as the Black & Gold held Curry scoreless in the second and third quarters. Senior Ben Coakley (Flemington, N.J.) gave Wentworth its first lead of the game with 6:07 left in the third quarter. Junior Erik Madden (Ctr. Tuftonboro, N.H.) extended the lead to 7-5 just 57 seconds later, while McKenna added his third of the game just 1:12 later to give Wentworth an 8-5 to close out the third quarter.
  • Coakley continued the run to open the fourth quarter. However, the scoring drought for Curry would end after 34:26 of the contest on a DeLeary goal. That was quickly paired with an Albie DiBella goal just 35 seconds later and cut the Leopard lead to two.
  • Junior Sam Prunier (Hollis, N.H.) ended the two-goal burst with his seventh goal on the season. Connor Bryant responded with a Colonel goal, cutting the lead to 10-8 with just 3:10 remaining but that was as close as the Colonels would get.
