Men's Lacrosse Visits Division II #15 Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Three student-athletes for the Division II #15 Florida Tech Panthers (3-1) collected hat-tricks in a battle with the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team (2-3). The Panthers took the game, 17-3.


HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Panthers scored nine goals across the first two quarters of play, with sophomore Andrew Walenty (Jackson, N.J.) chipping in three of the goals.
  • After a goal for Florida Tech just under a minute into the second half, junior Tyler Hoar (Hampton, N.H.) found an opening, scoring to put the Leopards on the board in a 10-1 score 5:20 later.
  • Following four-straight goals for the Panthers leading into the fourth quarter, including a third for junior Zach Rozgonyi (Elkridge, Md.), junior Logan Maklan (Boca Raton, Fla.) found the twine in his home state to mark a 14-2 score at the 8:32 mark of the fourth frame.
  • After two scores for the Panthers, including a third for senior Patrick Stewart (Westminster, Md.), freshman Tyler Longo (Kingston, N.Y.) tallied at the 4:49 mark, bringing the score to 16-3 before a Panthers tally at 1:25 gave the hosts a 17-3 win.
  • Between the pipes, sophomore Ryan Kalberer (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) made ten saves in the first half, while sophomore Tom Gardner (West Windsor, N.J.) made eight saves in the closing half.


SERIES NOTES:

  • Today marked the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

  • Wentworth is in idle in Florida until a matchup against Western Connecticut Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
