Men's Lacrosse Concludes Spring Break Against Western Connecticut

DAVENPORT, Fla. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team (2-3) capped off their spring break trip by battling Western Connecticut, falling by a score of 16-4.


HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Western Connecticut opened the first quarter finding the back of the net eight times, with three student-athletes accounting for two goals apiece.
  • After a goal for Western Connecticut opened the scoring in the second quarter, senior Liam Carroll (Brookfield, Conn.) found the twine at 10:46 mark to bring the score to 9-1. At the 7:48 mark, senior Jack Wishart (Reading, Mass.) continued Wentworth's scoring, bringing the score to 9-2 heading into the half.
  • Western Connecticut scored four-straight in the third quarter, with two coming from senior Stephen Cicchetti (Lindenhurt, N.Y.) to bring his goal total to four on the day, raising the score to 13-2.
  • After a Western Connecticut goal began the fourth quarter, Wishart ripped his second goal of the game on the man-advantage at the 8:10 mark, bringing the score to 14-3. After two more goals for the opposition, another goal on the man-advantage for Carroll brought the final score to 16-4.
  • Freshman Samuel Silva (San Antonio, Texas) led the Leopards in the faceoff draws, going 11-22 with three ground balls.


NOTEWORTHY:

  • Wentworth went 2-4 with a man-up and split the faceoff decisions

 

SERIES NOTES:

  • Today's game marked the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
