BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team (5-6, 2-1 CCC) stuck another one in the win column Tuesday night as the Leopards topped the Nor'Easters of the University of New England (7-5, 1-2 CCC) 13-5 behind a four-goal outing from junior Logan Maklan (Boca Raton, Fla.).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After just over eight minutes of scoreless play in the first quarter, freshman Tyler Longo (Kingston, N.Y.) found the twine to put the Leopards on the board. At the 2:53 mark, senior Liam Carroll (Brookfield, Conn.) extended the lead to 2-0 with a goal before a UNE strike 1:06 later cut the deficit to one. Junior Drew Bouley (Gloucester, Mass.) found the back of the net with 1:06 remaining in the first frame to give the Leopards a 3-1 advantage.
  • Wentworth rattled off six goals in a span of 12:08 in the second quarter, with goals coming from Maklan (2), Bouley, Carroll, freshman Colin Ocampo (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.), and junior Dryden Fisher (Haverhill, Mass.), giving the hosts a commanding 9-1 lead heading into the break.
  • After a Maklan goal on the man-advantage opened the third quarter's scoring at the 14:43 mark, the Nor'Easters scored four-straight to dwindle the deficit to 10-5. Wentworth responded with a Longo goal at the 2:40 mark and a tally by freshman Kobi Buffa (Craryville, N.Y.) 56 seconds later, marking a 12-5 lead heading into the final frame.
  • Maklan scored the lone tally of the fourth quarter at the 9:57 mark, resulting in a 13-5 victory for the hosts.
  • Junior Connor Charron (Tewksbury, Mass.) went 14-22 at the X while sophomore Ryan Kalberer (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) made six saves in between the pipes.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • The Leopards owned the advantage in ground balls (43-35), shots (35-20), and faceoff wins (14-8).
