Men's Lacrosse Falls to Emerson in Season Opener
Lions use a second half run to overtake the Leopards, 18-7; Jared Hiller records a goal and an assist

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Nicholas Fulgione (North Andover, Mass.) scored five goals and added an assist as the Emerson College men's lacrosse team (1-1) defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 18-7, on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After an early goal from Emerson, Wentworth jumped out to a 3-1 lead on goals from freshman Richard Roy (Feeding Hills, Mass.), sophomore Colin Ocampo (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.), and freshman Brendan Kroll (Wakefield, R.I.). The Leopards' goals came in a span of 1:05. However, a pair of man-up goals and a late Lion goal gave Emerson a 4-3 lead after one quarter.
- Using man-advantage goals from senior Drew Bouley (Gloucester, Mass.) and sophomore Salvatore Panetta (Boxborough, Mass.), the Leopards took a 5-4 lead and extended their lead to 6-4 on a goal from senior Logan Maklan (Boca Raton, Fla.). Emerson's Zachary Stern-Hayes (Brunswick, Maine) trimmed the lead to 6-5. Junior Jared Hiller (North Andover, Mass.) gave the Black & Gold a 7-5 lead with a goal with 6:63 left, however, Fulgione scored with 2:15 left to make it a one goal game at the half.
- Fulgione's goal started a 13-0 run that saw Emerson score seven times in the third quarter and five more times in the fourth quarter.
- Junior Tom Gardner (West Windsor, N.J.) made 14 saves. Panetta scooped up five ground balls. Senior Connor Charron (North Andover, Mass.) was outstanding at the X, winning 19-of-28 draws and collecting nine ground balls.
SERIES NOTES:
- Today was the ninth all-time meeting between the two teams. Wentworth leads, 6-3.
