Gardner, Kroll Receive CCC Weekly Awards

BEVERLY, Mass. – Off to their best start to a season since 2015, the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team earned recognition from the Commonwealth Coast Conference league office Tuesday morning. After wins over Emmanuel and Plymouth State, junior Tom Gardner (West Windsor, N.J.) was named CCC Defensive Player of the Week and freshman Brendan Kroll (Wakefield, R.I.) was named CCC Rookie of the Week. The awards are for games played March 11-17.

Gardner continued his terrific stretch in between the pipes, collecting two more wins behind a 13-save performance and 14-save performance against the Saints and Panthers, respectively. The junior held a 60% save percentage across the two wins.

Kroll padded his rookie stat line in both wins during the week, compiling four goals and two assists across the two wins. The freshman tallied a hat trick and added an assist and two ground balls in the Leopards' outing versus the Panthers.

Wentworth currently sits at 6-2 and hosts Manhattanville under the lights on Saturday night.
