Men's Lacrosse Notches Winningest Season with Overtime Thriller over Nichols on Senior Night
Leopards outlast Bison, 8-7, as Drew Bouley tallies hat trick and game-winner; 12 wins marks new program-high

BOSTON, Mass. – On Saturday night, the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team (12-4, 4-2 CCC) notched their winningest season in program history as the Leopards downed the Nichols Bison (8-8, 3-3 CCC) in an overtime thriller, 8-7. Senior Drew Bouley (Gloucester, Mass.) proved to be the hero in the second overtime frame.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Senior Colby Gillis (Northborough, Mass.) put Nichols ahead just over two minutes into the game before the Leopards knotted the score just under two minutes later. Bouley gave Wentworth a 2-1 lead by the 1:54 mark.
- Senior Dryden Fisher (Haverhill, Mass.) gave the Leopards a 3-1 lead at the 13:27 mark of the second frame before the Bison cut the deficit to 3-2 less than a minute later. Sophomore Tyler Longo (Kingston, N.Y.) extended the hosts' lead to 4-2 with 6:26 to go before the halfway mark.
- Nichols rattled off three straight goals by the 6:26 mark of the third quarter, with Gillis scoring a pair, before Longo tallied with 3:54 to go. Another Wentworth goal gave the Leopards a 6-5 lead by the 2:52 mark.
- Sophomore Conor Doherty (Billerica, Mass.) knotted the score for Nichols early in the fourth quarter before Bouley scored at the 9:59 mark to give the hosts a 7-6 lead. The two teams battled until Doherty tied the score at seven-all with six seconds left.
- After a scoreless first overtime frame, Bouley capped off his hat trick by tallying the game-winner for the Leopards with 50 seconds left in the second extra frame, earning Wentworth their twelfth win of the season.
- Junior Tom Gardner (West Windsor, N.J.) made 15 saves in goal while senior Connor Charron (Tewksbury, Mass.) went 11-for-18 from the X, scooping up six ground balls.
SERIES NOTES:
- Winners of five of the last six, Wentworth leads the all-time series, 20-7.
