Rowing Competes at Worcester Regatta

WORCESTER, Mass. – In a tune up before next weekend's New England Championships, the Wentworth rowing team posted three, third-place finishes at the Worcester Regatta which was held on Lake Quinsigamond.

The men's varsity four boat, which consisted of sophomore Emer Creighton (West Roxbury, Mass.), junior Tim Baker (Ashburnham, Mass.), senior Ben Peterson (Glastonbury, Conn.), senior Tucker Barrett (Leominster, Mass.), and sophomore Matthew West (Hingham, Mass.) placed third in a field of five boats, crossing the line in a time of 7:13.35. Bowdoin took first with a time of 6:55.74 while Clark was second with a time of 7:06.91. The Leopards defeated Connecticut College (7:35.21) and Mass. Maritime (7:59.13).

Wentworth's second varsity four boat finished fourth in a race consisting of six boats. Sophomore coxswain Lyn Carswell (Newark, N.J.), sophomore Dylan McGuinness (Methuen, Mass.), sophomore Kyle Rowe (Eliot, Maine), freshman TJ Dion, and junior Michael Pierce (Chelsea, Mass.) finished with a time of 7:41.16, which was behind Bowdoin (7:04.60) and the University of Rhode Island (7:05.83), and Amherst (7:34.38) while finishing ahead of Bowdoin's second entry (7:54.51) and Mass. Maritime (8:39.27).

In the men's novice four race, the Leopards placed third in a field of five boats. Freshman coxswain Orion Hansen (Orlando, Fla.), freshman Karlis Kaza (Wayland, Mass.), sophomore Padraic O'Sullivan (Upton, Mass.), sophomore Logan O'Donnell (Killingworth, Conn.), and sophomore Alec Boyle (Shirley, Mass.) finished with a time of 7:32.62, which was behind the University of Rhode Island's time of 7:11.13 and Bowdoin (7:11.95) while finishing ahead of Bowdoin's second entry (7:35.42) and Amherst (7:47.78).
