SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology rowing team concluded the fall portion of its season by competing at the Head of the Fish Regatta. In addition to racing against many schools the Leopards regularly compete against, this was a unique opportunity where Wentworth rowed against Canadian schools as well.
Wentworth entered five boats into the regatta with the most successful being the "A" entry in the Men's Collegiate Novice Fours race, which finished third.
In the Men's Collegiate Novice Eights race, sophomore coxswain Leslie Vongphakdy (Riverside, R.I.), sophomore Travis Worrick (Plymouth, Mass.), freshman Liam Jacques (Medford, Mass.), freshman James Bednar (Kansas City, Mo.), junior Jacob L'Heureux (Sanford, Maine), junior Brian Downey (Merrick, N.Y.), sophomore Orion Hansen (Tampa, Fla.) freshman Joshua Tremblay (Lowell, Mass.), and sophomore Conall Sullivan (Jacksonville, Vt.) placed 12th among 20 boats in their race with a time of 12:59.5.
The Leopards had a pair of entries in the Men's Collegiate Fours race. Freshman coxswain Jocelyn Frechette (Dracut, Mass.), sophomore Karlis Kaza (Wayland, Mass.), junior Alec Boyle (Shirley, Mass.), junior Logan O'Donnell (Killingworth, Conn.), and junior Matt West (Hingham, Mass.) placed 10th out of 30 boats with a time of 12:47.6. Freshman coxswain Emily Seslar (Plymouth, Mass.), junior Padraic O'Sullivan (Upton, Mass.), junior Kyle Rowe (Eliot, Maine), junior Dylan McGuinness (Methuen, Mass.), and sophomore TJ Dion (Lincoln, R.I.) were 16th in the field with a time of 13:17.8.
In the Men's Collegiate Novice Fours race, Wentworth entered two boats as well. Freshman coxswain Sara Anderson (Manchester, N.H.), freshman Tyler Brinson (Lowell, Mass.), freshman Brandon Ruehle (Kinnelon, N.J.), freshman Sephar Khansalar (Cambridge, Mass.), and freshman Dylan Ryan (Belmont, Mass.) placed third among 22 boats, crossing the line in a time of 12:00.5. Sophomore coxswain Kristian Hosker (Nahant, Mass.), Downey, L'Heureux, junior Chase Manning (Franklin, Mass.), and sophomore Ethan Butterworth (Cohasset, Mass.) placed 12th in the field with a time of 13:01.9.
