Rowing Picks up Two Third Place Finishes
Both the Varsity Four and Novice Four boats claimed third place at the River Hawk Challenge
LOWELL, Mass. – In windy and rainy conditions on Saturday, the Wentworth Institute of Technology rowing team weathered the storm, picking up a pair of third-place finishes at the River Hawk Challenge.
The Varsity Four boat won its heat, defeating Mass. Maritime and UMass Lowell. In the finals, the Leopards were third with a time of 6:41.0. finishing behind Bowdoin (6:32.7) and UMass Lowell (6:35.4) while finishing ahead of the MIT Lightweight boat (6:56.6).
The Novice Four boat placed third among eight competitors, finishing with a time of 6:30.7. Wentworth was behind Bowdoin (6:16.2) and Middlebury (6:24.6), while defeating Skidmore (6:35.3), UMass Lowell (6:41.7), Rhode Island (6:59.1), and Mass. Maritime (7:30.5).
Wentworth will next compete in the New England Rowing Championships on Saturday, May 4.
