Rowing Opens Season at Textile River Regatta

LOWELL, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology rowing team officially kicked off the 2019-2020 season on Sunday by participating in the Textile River Regatta, which was held on the Merrimack River in Lowell. The Leopards entered three boats in the regatta; two competed in the Men's Open Fours race, while the third boat was an entrant into the Men's Collegiate Novice Fours Race.

In the Men's Open Fours race, which had 20 entrants, The Wentworth "A" boat finished eighth with an adjusted time of 17:22.498. The Leopards were originally in sixth place, however, a 10-second penalty dropped them two spots. The Wentworth "B" boat placed 15th in the race, crossing the line with a time of 18:37.310.

After two boats were pre-race scratches, the Men's Collegiate Novice Fours race saw a two-boat field featuring the Leopards and Bowdoin with Wentworth finishing with a time of 19:37.784, which was behind the Polar Bears.

Wentworth will compete in the Head of the Housatonic Regatta on Saturday, October 12.
