BOSTON, Mass. – Daniel Noguera's goal with 12:22 remaining snapped a scoreless tie and gave the Husson University men's soccer team a 1-0 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology in non-conference action Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Wentworth had the game's first shot on net, coming on an Alex Burnham attempt in the 14th minute. Wessel De Wit came up with the stop to keep the hosts off the board. Husson countered in the 22nd minute with a pair of attempts just 37 seconds apart, however, Noah Lawless came up with a pair of saves to keep the game scoreless. The second shot was off a header right in front of the goal mouth.
- Angel Rojas had a bid for the Black & Gold in the 43rd minute that was saved by De Wit, and, off a corner kick attempt with 27 seconds left, Lawless made his third save of the half.
- Husson opened the second half with a shot on net that Lawless saved and had a pair of attempts go wide of the mark. Wentworth's Christopher nearly tied the game in the 61st minute when, after an initial shot attempt was blocked, he corralled his own rebound and put a shot on net.
- After the Leopards' Younes Henniche had a shot saved by De Wit, on the counter attack the Eagles broke the ice. Florian Gasser sent a pass from the top of the box to Noguera, who fired a shot from the left side to inside the right corner.
- De Wit made five saves in the shutout while Lawless stopped six shots. Husson had a 14-9 shot advantage and a 3-1 edge on corner kicks.
